Most child support payments will be automatically withheld from an employee's paycheck, provided the Child Support Agency has been informed of the payer's employer. It is the payer’s responsibility to report changes of employment within 10-days to the Child Support Agency.
However, all payers are ultimately responsible for making sure that payments are made according to their court order. Payers are instructed to check their paycheck stubs to make sure that the appropriate amounts of money were withheld. If the entire amount of child support due was not withheld, it is the payer's responsibility to send in the difference to the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund ("WI SCTF") using the address above.
For those payers who do not have their child support payments automatically withheld from their paychecks, a Monthly Statement of Account will be sent out at the end of every month.
Payments must be sent with a Payment Coupon to assure it is applied properly. Coupons are included with the Monthly Statement of Account, and are also available to payers on our child support website here. If a payment needs to be designated to a specific court case, the Designated Court Case box on the Payment Coupon must be checked and the court case number must be written in on the line provided on the Coupon. All payments (check, cashier’s check or money order) and payment coupons must be sent to the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund ("WI SCTF"), using the address above.
Please contact the Dane County Child Support Agency for assistance with filling out the Payment Coupon appropriately.
Payers who wish to make a child support payment on their own (either because they are self-employed, their employer did not withhold enough, or they would like to make an additional payment towards any outstanding balances), may send payment in the form of a check, cashier’s check or money order accompanied by a payment coupon to the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund ("WI SCTF"), using the address above.
Payers must list the following minimum information on their payment:
Please contact the Dane Child Support Agency for assistance with filling out the Payment Coupon appropriately.

Beginning November 2017, payers in non-child support agency cases (i.e. cases that are not enforced by the local county child support office), that have outstanding R&D fees are certified for state tax offset. 21,355 notices were mailed informing non-custodial parents with R&D fee debts that they will be certified for state tax intercept.
Pursuant to sec. 767.511 (6), Stats., a party ordered to pay child support was required to pay simple interest at the rate of 1% per month on any outstanding balance that is equal to or greater than the amount of child support due in one month prior to April 1, 2014. The current statutory rate of interest is established at .5% per month as of April 1, 2014.
